The SIDCER Objectives
The
primary objective of SIDCER
is to contribute to human subjects protections globally
by developing capacity in ethical review and the ethics
of health research. SIDCER
achieves this goal through the following activities:
a) developing regional and local fora for members of ethical
review committees;
b) soliciting and providing support for established regional
and local fora, as appropriate;
c) fostering partnerships at national, regional, and international
levels with other entities sharing
common values and common goals;
d) promoting the development and implementation of actions
designed to improve the quality of
ethical review;
e) facilitating and supporting education in biomedical research
ethics related to research reviews,
to collaborate with universities, international
academies, and other relevant institutions and
organizations;
f) assisting in the collection, development, and distribution
of educational materials for members
of ethical review committees;
g) promoting regional and country workshops for the implementation
of the Operational
Guidelines
for Ethics Committees That Review Biomedical
Research;
h) participating in international discussions on research
ethics;
i) facilitating resource mobilization that ensures the sustainability
of regional and country activities.
